Six Stations

This series presents a thoughtful exploration of what the place or space means to me, shaped by the experiences stemming from frequent relocation and travel to various cities, including New York, Boston, Santo Domingo, Beijing, and Seoul. Through the vibrant and evocative paintings that depict the often dry and empty atmospheres of these locations, my constant struggles with anxiety and feelings of loneliness are poignantly captured. At the same time, I have consciously included elements that represent the important things I hold dear, such as my beloved cat, my painting desk, my cherished dreamcatcher, and even the refreshing crispness of the air I breathe. No matter what each city represents in terms of its beauty and uniqueness, it is important to note that people cannot truly enjoy life in any place if one’s mind is burdened by heartache. However, I find value in viewing these different cities as mere train stations in the journey of life, as I reflected on my experiences over time and came to the realization that I am also here in these moments because of them.
